Submitted an entry for the “ice my house” contest. Belinda’s Basement retreat – about a month ago. For the last two weeks, i have been unable to access the page and cannot find anyway to see who won, or if we were still in the running.
The house is a 1940’s Stone Cottage in East Nashville (probably the hottest hood in the US right now). We were forced out of our rental after 3 years (it was sold) and with the current market, had to buy. We were homeless for 12 days (couch surfing) with our 2 kids, 2 dogs, a 40 year old turtle, a beta fish, plants and our food. We moved 4 times in 12 days before finally occupying the property.
The previous owner was a hoarder, and had a minimum of 3 weeks of work to do 12 hours before close. We hired “labor ready” folks to get him out – during the entire experience, the entire family got a violent stomach flu, wife through out her back and much more.
The project is around 1300-1800 square foot walk out stone basement – I travel extensively and my wife stays at home and watches a 3rd and often 4th kid in home. Our rental afforded her an “oasis” in our master suite. The new home does not offer her that solace and the basement is the only option we have to renovate. We do not have the finances to afford such a reno, so we really need to have our house “iced”. We love his work, watch the show religiously and would appreciate any consideration. We are a cooky, dynamic family, and would make for some good watching in addition to a really cool project for the show. I have no idea if this is a forum in which to appeal to the decision makers, but please consider our home as a finalist for the contest. Thanks for your time and consideration and look forward to meeting the crew in Nashville soon!!

Dear Mr. Rob,
I would love for you to “ICE” my parents home. My parents are senior citzens who live in Brunswick, Georgia. If you never heard of Brunswick, Georgia… you are in stored of a sweet treat! Brunswick, Georgia which rises along the southeastern coastline of Georgia is one of the most unique, historic and visually stunning places in the world. Charming nineteenth century Victorian-style homes, century old grand oaks, endless golden marshes, old magnolia tree lined streets and magnificently preserved buildings complement the bustling business community of boutique shops, fine and casual restaurants, art galleries, banking and financial institutions, quality care medical centers, churches and cultural venues. You can stroll the waterfront as shrimp boats arrive with their daily catch or enjoy fresh locally grown fruits and veggies at the Farmer’s Market. Visitors and residents alike believe that Brunswick has something for everyone.

With all this luster that Brunswick has to offer, my parents have been pillars in the community for over 30+ years. My father who will turn 77 this year and my mother will be the tender age of 73 this coming April 2013. My parents have been married for over 50 years, not only do they share their dedication to one another they are also Pastors of a church named “New Covenant Church” for over 20+ years. Since, the time when my sisters and I lived at home my parents house has become out dated and at times over whelming with their age to up-keep on some of the maintence. Also due to the economy some of my parents faithful followers income has decreased and so also did their support financially. My parents are humble and would be so pleased to have their home “ICE’D” out by you and your Ninja’s! My sisters and I would be more than happy to help in all aspect to see this project completed and my parents dream of just modern day up-dates done to their home. Just the thought of my parents having the modern conveniences of a dish washer, a kitchen sink that drains properly would do all of our hearts a world of good. I thank you in advance for your consideration.
